Swami Ramakrishnananda Puri's First Visit to Indonesia
Swami Ramakrishnananda Puri and Br. Shantamrita conducted two programs in Medan, Indonesia on the 10th and 11th of September, 2008. About 220 people came to the first day program at the Mariamam Hindu Temple despite torrential rain.
Swami spoke in Tamil with Indonesian translation as the audience was mainly Tamil descendents who have settled in Medan for generations. They were genuinely thrilled that Swami had come from India to share Amma’s teachings and compassion with them. The manager of the temple Mr. Raju said, “If it didn’t rain so badly, the temple would have been overflowing with people. We will continue to give support to Amma’s group in Medan for the benefit of us all.”
The second day program in Yoga Life Studio attracted over 100 people. Most of the audience didn't previously know about Amma but during the question and answer session with Swami they expressed their curiosity to learn more about Amma and her teachings. Swami received a warm welcome by the local people and 3 major newspapers also wrote articles about his visit.
